Anna @ Shenandoah University
I haven't fallen off the face of the earth, despite my blog record--I've only moved out of Texas! This summer has been incredibly busy, as I was preparing to move to Virginia to do graduate performance studies at Shenandoah University in Winchester. I arrived in early August and am enjoying learning my new area, getting into classes and rehearsals, working as a graduate assistant, and making new friends. I'm also loving being close enough to one of my brothers and his wife to pop in for a Saturday visit!

I am booking weddings and other events and have open weekends in my 2011 calendar--please contact me about your date! My teaching studio in Winchester has openings for new students, and I am beginning to offer lessons by Skype for select students.

Wherein Anna Visits Lyon & Healy

Chicago was my destination last weekend . . . I'm sending many thanks to Steve, Natalie, and Nancy for their welcome to the Lyon & Healy Chicago Showroom! I became acquainted with a lovely Style #23, introduced myself to the new "Chicago" harps, and wandered through a forest of harps, all photo-documented by my fantastic Texan-turned-Chicagoan friend Jennifer.

About a fourth of the "forest."

Thanks to Jenn (and her not-pictured hubby!) for a great harp-filled, fun-filled visit!

Melody is one of my violin students and was recently cast as Pattertwig the squirrel in Artisan Theatre's production of "Prince Caspian." She gave a fantastic performance! This is opening night, Feb. 2011:

Wherein Anna Sings and Plays in Bryan, Texas

February 19 found me in Bryan, Texas for the "Ladies in Red" concert, benefiting the Susan G. Komen Foundation.  Maureen (on the right) organized the concert, which featured local women musicians: three sopranos, the Marian Anderson String Quartet, a flute duo, Baroque organ, harp, and piano. Each musician dedicated her performance to someone she knows or knew who has had breast cancer. The concert was terrifically fun and very rewarding. Here's a quick snapshot of the three sopranos: (sorry the photo is blurry, and that it doesn't include my harp--it was there, I promise!)

No promises to be incredibly up-to-the-minute, but in the coming days I plan to share my favorite links, harp information and happenings, and tidbits from my life as a musician.
